Speak Out: Mueller dismisses claims

Robert Mueller on Wednesday bluntly dismissed President Donald Trump’s claims of total exoneration in the federal probe of Russia’s 2016 election interference, telling Congress he explicitly did not clear the president of obstructing his investigation. The former special counsel also rejected Trump’s assertions that the probe was a “witch hunt” and hoax.

Innocent until proven guilty. He didn’t clear? That’s not his job. His job is to prove guilt. He didn’t do that. — Chris Werner

• Actually that really wasn’t his job. The Justice Department has a longstanding policy that prevents federal prosecutors from charging a sitting president with a crime. Just because this policy prevents him from charging him, doesn’t mean he did not prove guilt. — Erica Jones

• Insufficient evidence for obstruction which means there is nothing to be exonerated for. If the evidence was there Mueller’s team would have found it. — Maureen McCartan Harris

•What he has said multiple times is the evidence IS there to indict Trump of obstruction but the Department of Justice Office of Legal Council says that a sitting president can’t be indicted for a crime. All he could legally do is investigate and present the case. Trump can be indicted once he is out of office. — Terrell Carey

• Listen again. Mueller did confirm obstruction acts performed by the POTUS. Just listen to the first 5 minutes of questioning. That sums it up. It’s clear to me. Impeach. — Merv Sparks

• In some people’s “minds” impeach means Clinton becomes president. — Christopher Foxwell

Yeah, only those who watch Fox. If there were votes in the Senate, it would go to Pence, but likely, he’s under investigation due to Flynn, and he too gets taken out. It would then go to Pelosi. Be careful. — Brian Scharf

• Trump didn’t do the thing that we accused him of doing after spying and investigating him. It’s even questionable whether he should have been spied on in the first place based on possibly fake evidence. He kind of obstructed the case though so it’s obvious we need to start the impeachment process. I fixed it for you. — Ryan Fenimore

• Stop wasting the taxpayers money. The Democrats are out of control. You have already wasted 25 million dollars when its investigation and it’s coming out of the USA’s people’s pocket every single day, enough is enough. Don’t subpoena a man and then try to put words in his mouth. So sick of this mess. Let Trump do his job. I don’t see Obama or the Clintons up there and they did a lot of wrongdoing if you go back and think about it. So sick of wasting taxpayers’ money and we could be feeding homeless vets and children. Sick and tired of it. — Fay Traylor

• Trump is not going to feed homeless vets and children. He’s cutting SNAP benefits. — April Williams

• Dems better give it up or they are sure to lose in 2020. People are tired of the same BS every day. They should be talking about what they are going to do for us. — Jack Jordan
