Speak Out: Shutdown ends

President Donald Trump and congressional leaders on Friday reached a short-term deal to reopen the government for three weeks while negotiations continue over the president’s demands for money to build his long-promised wall at the U.S.-Mexico border.

• We are in the exact same place we were on Dec. 22. The furlough (which the GOP owns) held American federal civil servants hostage for nothing. — Cheri Zatko-Coseglia

• Bill introduced to pay government workers and Coast Guard, 215 Democrats vote no. Blame Trump for workers and Coast Guard not getting paid. — Ian Calhoun

• But yet when introduced a bill last night that would pay the Coast Guard, the Democrats denied it as well as Schumer putting together a $25 billion deal to fund for a wall in 2014. This isn’t about the GOP and what we stand for this is about a bunch of crybabies that have a personal vendetta on our president. — Alex Graham

• The far out left are a joke! If they cared about the republic and the people they would support Trump’s plan. AH, they don’t want him to have any success because they still can’t get over their loss! — Howard Gaines III
