Speak Out: Watergate redux?

When the House impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump begins its public phase on Wednesday, people will be watching on screens large and small. Many, in fact, are likely to be watching the proceedings on more than one screen, with real-time reinforcement of their preexisting views of Trump on social media platforms and other venues that did not exist in Richard Nixon’s time.

• Will it be a giant waste of time watching like the Mueller testimony? Probably. — Ryan Fenimore

• Absolutely! When this fails they will try something else. They will never stop the BS. — Mark Schmalhofer

• It’ll only be a waste of time for those that refuse to see that a crime was committed, that he is a corrupt pathological liar. Yes, those that don’t see ANYTHING negative in this deeply flawed man, those that have vilified a war vet for telling the truth. So yes, it’ll be a waste of time for such people but for the rest of us, an insightful look and confirmation on the character of this moron from those that actually know-his choices of “best of the best” in his administration. — Michael Jones

• Trump followers are only going to believe what Trump says and all he does is lie. — Merv Sparks

• And Democrats such as yourself will continue to have no problem with the Bidens’ corruption. — Chris N Cindy Long

• Don’t assume I’m a Dem. What did the Bidens do? If things were that bad, you would have thought Trump would have already investigated the Bidens when he had control of Congress. Instead, Trump continues to lie, disrespect others, puts down military members, supports foreign leaders over our own intelligence agencies, etc. — Merv Sparks

• Trump 2020, just like the Energizer Bunny, he keeps going. — William Jamar

• They will vote to impeach along party lines, then it will go to the Senate and nothing will happen. This will just be dragged out, but the true crime was done by Joe Biden. If Joe didn’t announce he was going to run for office, there could not be any impeachable offense. — Jeff Grzeszczak

• If Joe Biden had not announced he was running for office Donald Trump wouldn’t have gotten himself in so much trouble. Why didn’t Donald Trump investigate the Bidens years ago? He’s had plenty of time. — Joyce A. Getty

• Hmm. I’m wondering if the reason he didn’t investigate the Bidens years ago has anything to do with there was nothing to investigate in the first place! The fake news actually comes out of the White House every time this president opens his mouth or tweets. — Joe Bernard

• Just resign already. — Matt Kay

• Trump has executive power to check for threats and corruption linked to our country, aka the Biden situation. You are being brainwashed by the Democrats. It should tick you off that his son was given a job making 1.5 billion dollars and never worked a day in his life. None of us would have been given that job. It was to aid in his corruption. — Lisa Garber
