4 wounded, 6 suspects sought in spree of Dover shootings

DOVER — A violent stretch continued Thursday with the fourth and fifth shootings in six days, leaving four people wounded and at least six unknown suspects sought.

Late Thursday night, Dover Police said, a man and woman were injured after multiple gunshots were fired their way in the unit block of Stevenson Drive in the Manchester Square neighborhood at approximately 10:31 p.m. Two unknown black male suspects first approached the victims before discharging their weapons.

Both victims were struck once in the lower extremities, spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said, and were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening.

One suspect was reportedly wearing all black, the other wearing a black and white jacket.

• A 32-year-old man was shot multiple times during a home invasion at approximately 6:35 a.m. Thursday in the 400 block of S. Governors Avenue. Two men broke a front window and entered the residence, police said, and met two men inside. The men fled, with one escaping through a second floor window and another hiding in a bathroom.

Multiple gunshots ensued and the man hiding in the bathroom was struck in the lower extremities. He was in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries after transport to an undisclosed hospital.

• A 36-year-old man was uninjured in a shooting at the Manchester Square entrance Monday at approximately 11:47 p.m.

The man was turning onto White Oak road when multiple rounds were fired his way from a black SUV that pulled in front of him; the suspect was described as a black male passenger.

Following the gunfire, the victim drove away and said that the SUV followed as the gunfire towards him continued. The victim was uninjured, police said.

• Last Saturday at 2:30 a.m. an unknown suspect or suspects fired multiple shots in the 400 block of Barrister Place. A resident later found a bullet had stuck a window, entering the home. The resident then contacted police as investigation began.

• On Sunday in the 400 block of Barrister Place, a 27-year-old man was struck in the right leg while running from gunshots at the Barrister Place and South Little Creek intersection. Two nearby vehicles were also hit in the incident.

Other May incidents

• A 21-year-old man suffered non-life threatening injuries when shot at approximately 1:37 a.m. May 4 at Allure Nightclub at 865 N. DuPont Highway.

A handgun-wielding person and large fight brought police to the scene and an arrest followed. Authorities said another fight broke out and an onlooker was struck by multiple gunshots, causing non-life threatening injuries.

A 5-foot-10 to 5-11 black male suspect with dreadlocks a skinny build and red shirt was sought.

• On May 3, gunshots were fired at a residence in the 400 block of Barrister Place. Officers were first called to the area at around 3:12 a,m. but found no evidence of a shooting, police said.

A half hour later a homeowner called to report that his residence had been hit by several rounds. Several shell casings were found outside the home and no injuries were reported.

Investigations ongoing

Police said investigations into all shootings are ongoing and asked anyone with information to call 736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous.
