43 forgery counts against Laurel woman

SEAFORD — A 29-year-old Laurel woman was charged with 43 counts of second-degree felony forgery regarding alleged falsified business documents investigation at a restaurant in the 22000 block of Sussex Highway on June 15, Seaford Police said.

Ashley Young was charged after investigation into an alleged internal theft by employee, spokesman Sr. Corporal Eric Chambers said. Other charges included 43 counts of falsifying business documents and one count of theft by false pretense under $1500. Ms. Young was given a $32,500 unsecured bail.

Police said it was reported that an employee was changing tip amounts on customer’s receipts in order to obtain a benefit. The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division.

Police said Ms. Young turned herself into the Seaford Police Department Monday.
