Alleged knife incident leads to arrest on drug charges

MILFORD — A 23-year-old man was charged with drug offenses following a reported knife-involved altercation, Milford Police spokesman Sgt. Robert Masten said.

Patrol officers were called to a residence in the 200 block of South Washington Street Saturday, police said. Officers determined that a verbal altercation escalated into a person being threatened with a knife.

Police said Timothy D. Jarvis Jr. fled before officers arrived. He was taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop on South Washington Street. Police said 13.5 grams of K-2, a synthetic drug, was found.

Charges included possession of a controlled counterfeit substance, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing, possession of a deadly weapon by person prohibited and driving while suspended.

Bail was set at $69,010 secured on the initial incident charges and $200 unsecured on the K-2 charge. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution.

Md. man facing burglary, strangulation charges
MILFORD — A 29-year-old Maryland man was arrested on burglary and strangulation charges following an alleged domestic-related incident Sunday, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

The incident occurred at 9 p.m., and troopers were dispatched to Thawley Lane in reference to a domestic related burglary. Troopers were told by a 31-year-old woman that while she and her two children were in a vehicle driven by her boyfriend, Kyle M. Gibbons, of Upper Marlboro, a verbal argument ensued. The argument escalated when Mr. Gibbons proceeded to strangle the woman and refused to let her exit the vehicle, police said.

Mr. Gibbons then proceeded to drive the woman and her children to the children’s father’s residence on Thawley Lane, police said. They exited the vehicle unharmed and without further incident.

Mr. Gibbons, who initially left the area after dropping off the victim and children, returned and attempted to break into the residence on Thawley Lane, which police said was unoccupied at the time. Mr. Gibbons kicked in the front door and entered the residence for a short time. Mr. Gibbons kicked the overhead garage door causing damage to same before fleeing the area.

Mr. Gibbons was located in his vehicle a short time later in the parking lot of Bayhealth Sussex. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 7.
Charges included second-degree burglary, strangulation. unlawful imprisonment, criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child (two counts). He was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown on $21,000 secured bond.

Package theft yields arrest, return
SEAFORD – A 22-year-old Maryland man was arrested after a package was taken from a front porch in the 700 block of West Ivy Drive, Seaford Police Master Cpl. Eric Chambers said.

A citizen reported concerns to police. Sentell Burks, of Baltimore was located a short distance from the scene and arrested without incident within minutes, according to authorities. The property was returned to the owner.

Mr. Burks was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court and released on $1,000 unsecured bail.
