Arrest follows shots fired report in Delmar

DELMAR — A 26-year-old man was arrested on weapons charges after allegedly firing a gun Thursday, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

Authorities said the incident occurred at 9:56 p.m. in the 14000 block of Oak Branch Road. Upon arrival, troopers determined that shots had been heard coming from Tabvon L. Sabb’s residence. Troopers went to Mr. Sabb’s residence, where they discovered three empty 270 Winchester rifle bullets on the back porch, police said. An unloaded Remington 270 Winchester rifle was found inside police.

Upon contact with Mr. Sabb at the residence, troopers detected an odor of alcohol, police said. A computer inquiry revealed that Mr. Sabb was a person prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Mr. Sabb was taken into custody without incident and charged with possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited and possession of a firearm while under the influence.

Following arraignment before Justice of the Peace Court, Mr. Sabb was released on $11,000 unsecured bond.
