Arrest made in Milford shooting probe

MILFORD — A 25-year-old Ellendale man was arrested after investigation into a shots fired report on Thursday, Milford Police spokesman Sgt. Robert Masten said.

Treyvon L. Bowman was stopped while driving a vehicle from the Brightway Commons area after officers responded at 12:34 a.m., authorities said.

Several vehicles had fled at a high rate of speed, police said, and Mr. Bowman’s nearly struck another vehicle.
Police said a .45- caliber handgun was found as well as cocaine.

Mr. Bowman was also allegedly driving the vehicle while impaired, police said.

Charges included firearm during the commission of a felony, with intent to deliver a controlled substance, weapon in a safe school zone and weapon by person prohibited, receiving stolen firearm, firearm while under the influence, drug paraphernalia, third offense DUI of alcohol, disregarding a police officer signal, driving while suspended or revoked. failed to remain in a single lane, driving at a reasonable speed and following too closely.

Mr. Bowman was presented at Justice of the Peace Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach, where secured bail was set at $47,503 secured. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown.

Police said an unoccupied parked vehicle was struck by gunfire during the incident and investigation continues.
