Assault, burglary, theft charges for Milford man

Courtney Goode

MILFORD — A 43-year-old Milford man was charged with burglary, theft and assault counts following an alleged incident at a residence in the 400 block of S. Washington Street on Nov. 2, Milford Police spokesman Det. Timothy Maloney said.

Courtney Goode fled from a back yard as police arrived, according to authorities, but was quickly taken into custody without further incident.

Police were told that Mr. Goode allegedly began yelling and banging on a door at approximately 4:15 p.m. and an occupant called 911 immediately. A physical altercation followed, police said, and an attempt to take the occupant’s cell phone resulted during a call with police. The occupant claimed to be punched and kicked, police said.

Police said Mr. Goode allegedly entered forcibly through the downstairs portion of the residence and went upstairs.

The occupant was transported to the hospital by ambulance for further medical treatment for injuries.

Charges included second-degree burglary, third-degree assault, theft under $1,500, resisting arrest, malicious interference emergency communications, and criminal mischief under $1,000. Mr. Goode was presented through Justice of the Peace Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach and committed to the Department of Correction in default of $9,500 secured bail. A no contact order with the occupant was also issued.
