Amari Cannon

Police said a domestic dispute resulted in a woman being assaulted by hands placed around her throat, impeding her breathing. Authorities said a woman’s cell phone was smashed after she attempted to call 911. A suspect fled before police arrived, according to spokesman Senior Cpl. Eric Chambers.

Police said that hours later, Amari Cannon was arrested at Meadowbridge Apartments as he was driving away from the area.

Other charges included strangulation, theft under $1,500 malicious interference with emergency communications, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. Mr. Cannon was committed to the Delaware Department of Correction in lieu of $8,400 cash bail.
