Assault complaint brings Milford arrest

MILFORD—- A 34-year-old Milford woman was arrested Sunday after an alleged assault at a residence in the 200 block of North Street, authorities said.

According to Milford Police, Vanessa Diaz met with the patrol division at approximately 8:35 p.m. after an alleged incident. Ms. Diaz said she went to the residence to see her children and while she was there a fight ensued between her and one of the residents. Officers responded to the residence and made contact with the residents present, police said.

Officers learned that Ms. Diaz had responded to the residence to see her children, but was asked to leave numerous times by the homeowner due to previous issues that she had allegedly caused, police said. Ms allegedly refused to leave the residence and then engaged in a physical altercation with one of the residents, police said.

After the altercation, Ms. Diaz finally left the residence, police alleged. Investigation revealed that two children were asleep inside the residence and were awoken by the arguing and observed the physical altercation occur, police said. A person was injured but declined medical treatment, police said. A warrant was issued for Ms. Diaz, police said.

Ms. Diaz turned herself in to police Sunday, police said. Charges included third-degree assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Ms. Diaz was presented through Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on a $1,200 unsecured bail with a no contact order with all involved persons in the case, police said.
