Camden Police officer placed on administrative leave

CAMDEN — A Camden Police officer was placed on paid administrative leave Friday following a misconduct charge associated with his previous job in Maryland, authorities said.

On Saturday, Camden Police Chief Marcus Whitney said an internal investigation was initiated regarding the status of Mike Petyo. Mr. Petyo arrived in Camden after earlier serving as chief of police in Greensboro, Maryland.

The Associated Press cited a Baltimore Sun report that “the state prosecutor’s office said in a release Thursday that Mike Petyo made factual misrepresentations on behalf of one of his police officers in an application for certification. The application is reviewed to certify police officers for duty across the state.”
