Camden-Wyoming man killed in crash identified

GREENWOOD — Brooks S. Perry, 33, of Camden-Wyoming, was identified as the driver who died in a Saturday night crash on Sussex Highway (U.S. 13) in the area of Woodyard Road, authorities said.
Mr. Perry died after a 2011 Kia Rio pulled directly into the path of a 2003 Ford Explorer he was driving at approximately 5:59 p.m., Delaware State Police spokeswoman Senior Cpl. Heather Pepper said.
Mr. Perry was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both the north- and southbound lanes of Sussex Highway were closed for 4 hours while the crash was investigated. Police said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Cpl. J. Burns of the Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit at 644-5020.

Police: Woman standing in I-495 struck, killed by SUV
TEMPLE HILLS, Md. (AP) — Maryland State Police are looking into the death of a pedestrian who they say was standing in Interstate 495 when she was struck by an SUV in Prince George’s County.
A news release from the police says the unidentified 40-year-old woman was standing in the highway shortly after midnight Monday.
Authorities say there was nothing to suggest the victim had been driving a vehicle that had become disabled.
The driver told investigators he tried to avoid hitting the victim but was unable to do so.
The victim was declared dead at the scene.
