Charges filed after Greenwood garage break-in

Jesse A. Nichols

GREENWOOD — A 34-year-old Felton man was arrested on burglary charges after he was allegedly seen breaking into a garage Thursday, authorities said.

Delaware State Police said the alleged incident occurred at approximately 8:28 a.m. when troopers were dispatched to the 13000 block of St. Johnstown Road for a report of a burglary in progress called in by a neighbor. Upon arrival to the residence, police said, troopers located Jesse A. Nichols hiding in the garage area.

Police said it was learned that Mr. Nichols’ stepfather currently lives at the residence and Jesse has not lived there for the past three to four years. Mr. Nichols was taken into custody without further incident.

It was later discovered that Mr. Nichols allegedly entered the same property on June 6 and stole several items, including a jewelry box, cuff link, and a Colman cooler. These items were later recovered from Mr. Nichols’ vehicle, police said.

Charges included second- and third-degree burglary and felony theft. Mr. Nichols was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown on $1,495 cash only bond.
