Detainee escapes from courthouse

GEORGETOWN — A 24-year-old man being detained escaped from the Sussex County Courthouse Tuesday afternoon,, authorities said.

According to spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe, Ronald N. Stow escaped from the custody of Delaware Capitol Police while being held for the Delaware State Police. At the time of the escape, police said, Mr. Stow was wanted on criminal warrants out of Troop 7 for second-degree burglary, unlawful use of a payment card and theft from a victim over 62 years of age.

Capitol Police obtained an active warrant for Mr. Stow on a third-degree escape charge.

Mr. Stow was last seen driving a black Ford Focus with Delaware registration 376330, traveling eastbound on South Bedford Street in Georgetown, police said. He was described as a 5-foot-7, 103-pound white male with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police asked anyone with information on Mr. Stow’s whereabouts to call 911 immediately. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or online at delaware.crimestoppersweb.com.
