Dover man charged in gunpoint robbery

DOVER — A 32-year-old Dover man was arrested last Friday after being identified as a suspect in an alleged gunpoint robbery outside a 7-11 on Aug. 16, police said in an arrest affidavit.

Marshall L. Rivers III was allegedly found in possession of a black 9mm handgun when stopped by Dover Police in the 400 block of Old Court Street at 1:54 a.m., an arresting officer wrote in court papers. He tossed the weapon (later recovered) and fled from the vehicle before being apprehended, police said.

Investigating officers reviewed surveillance video of the alleged incident at 1019 Walker Road and determined Mr. Rivers to be a suspect, documents said. He was allegedly in possession of a firearm at the time, police claimed. A second suspect seen in the video could not be identified, police said.

According to police, two men forced a person out of his vehicle at the 7-11 and took an undisclosed amount of money from him.

Charges include first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm or ammunition during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing and second-degree conspiracy.

The traffic stop brought charges of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm/ammunition by person prohibited (two counts), receiving stolen firearm, tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest and driving while suspended.

Mr. Rivers was held in custody after failing to post a $91,600 cash bond.
