Dover man charged in restaurant incident

DOVER — A 58-year-old Dover man was arrested last Friday following an alleged disorderly conduct incident in a restaurant, Milford Police said.

According to spokesman Sgt. Robert Masten, officers were called to Popeye’s in the 600 block of North DuPont Boulevard for a reported disorderly person. Officers contacted Charles H. Benson and asked him to leave, police said, but the he allegedly failed to comply after a warning that he could be arrested. Mr. Benson allegedly resisted arrest as officers tried to take him into custody, police said.

Charges included resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and third-degree trespass. Mr. Benson was presented at Justice of the Peace Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach, where secured bail was set at $700, along with being ordered to have no contact with the restaurant.
