Dover man critical after being shot multiple times

DOVER — A 44-year-old Dover man suffered life threatening injuries when shot multiple times in the Capital Green neighborhood Wednesday night, authorities said.

Dover Police were called to the scene around 9:06 p.m. and found the injured man laying next to his vehicle in the 400 block of East Water Street. He was conscious at the time and suffering from wounds to the torso.

The victim lives in the city but is not a resident of the Capital Green neighborhood, spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said. His name was not disclosed and it was unknown whether he was alone when shot.

EMS transported the man to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital in Dover, where emergency surgery was performed. He was then transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton for further treatment.

No property damage to the vehicle or nearby residences was reported, police said.
