Dover man faces drug, weapons charges

DOVER — Donovan Maldonado, of Dover, was arrested and is facing drug and gun charges after Dover Police and Delaware Probation and Parole officers executed a search warrant Wednesday afternoon, Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

Officers searched a house in the 100 block of Madison Court at 3:50 p.m. Wednesday to conclude a drug investigation.

Cpl. Hoffman said the search turned up 615.1 grams of marijuana, 3.8 grams of cocaine, a Bersa .380 handgun, a US Importer Walther Fort Smith .22 caliber rifle and a 12-gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun.

Mr. Maldonado was taken into custody without incident. There were six children in the home at the time of the search.

Mr. Maldonado was charged with three counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, aggravated possession of marijuana, possession with intent to deliver cocaine and six counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

He was committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna in default of $25,000 cash bond.
