Dover police probe shooting

DOVER — The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning that left a 26-year-old female with a minor injury.

Police spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said that, at 2:45 a.m., officers responded to the unit block of South New Street for a report of several shots fired. Arriving officers learned that the female victim suffered a graze wound to her lower body. The victim was treated at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital and released.

Officers discovered several shell casings at the scene and said that at least two houses were struck by gunfire. No other injuries were reported.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302)736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be submitted to law enforcement through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or online at; a cash reward of up to $1,000 is possible for information leading to an arrest.
