Dover teen arrested after firearm report

MAGNOLIA — A 15-year-old Dover male was arrested late Saturday morning after reports of a person with a handgun, Delaware State Police said.

According to spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe, the alleged incident occurred at 11:09 a.m. when troopers were dispatched to the area of McKinley Circle. Police said troopers observed Davion Scott, 15, standing in the area, and proceeding to walk away as he saw the police vehicle.

The teen was given verbal commands to stop, at which point he was observed reaching for an object in his waistband, police said. Police said the youth then removed a handgun from his waistband and threw it underneath a parked vehicle.

Troopers took the teen into custody without further incident. A black handgun with an obliterated serial number and loaded with a magazine containing three .45-caliber rounds was recovered from the scene, police alleged.
