Downtown Dover contact brings drug charges

DOVER — A 27-year-old man was arrested on heroin-related charges after being contacted by authorities in the downtown area Wednesday afternoon, Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

Dandre Chandler allegedly dropped a Cheetos bag containing 39 bags of heroin when contacted in the area of West Loockerman and South New Streets around 4 p.m. He had also been seen driving a vehicle that was nearby, Delaware Probation and parole also made the arrest.

A search warrant was obtained and 113 bags of heroin were found in the vehicle, police said. Mr. Chandler, who was on probation, was issued a violation of probation as well.

Charges included possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to deliver and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Chandler was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown on $11,500 bond.
