Dump truck driver electrocuted in industrial accident

LAUREL – Authorities say the driver of a dump truck died by electrocution Friday afternoon when he came in contact with the truck after it struck a power line.

Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe identified the victim as 30-year-old Bryan Dukes of Easton, Maryland.

The industrial accident occurred Nov. 22 at about 3:45 p.m. in the 31000 block of Jestice Farm Road east of Laurel.

State police investigation revealed the dump truck struck a power line while unloading cargo. The power line caught and fell to the ground.

The drive got out of the vehicle and was electrocuted when he touched the back the dump truck, Cpl. Jaffe said.

Mr. Dukes was transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Cpl. Jaffe said.
