Fatal single vehicle crash in Milton

MILTON — A 64-year-old died in a single vehicle crash on U.S. 1 northbound near Hudson and Lockerman roads Thursday night, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

According to authorities, the man was not wearing a seat belt when his 2000 Toyota Avalon left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a tree at approximately 11:05 p.m. Police withheld the victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.

Northbound Coastal Highway in the area of Lockerman Road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by DSP’s Collision Reconstruction Unit.
