Felton woman charged with fifth DUI

FELTON — A 57-year-old Felton woman was charged with an alleged fifth DUI offense early Monday morning after police were dispatched to an accident scene, authorities said in court papers.

Upon arrival at the intersection of West High Street and Walnut Street at approximately 12:33 a.m., a Delaware State Police trooper was contacted by a person who alleged that a 2002 red Jeep Wrangler had fled after allegedly striking her vehicle with its front bumper, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

According to authorities in papers, Brenda L. Oeller – also identified as Brenda C. Jenkins – was allegedly located lying on the ground at her residence in the 100 block of Branch Street and appearing “extremely disoriented.”

Ms. Oeller was allegedly unable to perform a walk and turn test, police said in court documents. She later consented to a blood draw with was taken at 2:07 a.m. at Troop 3, authorities said.

Police said in papers that Ms. Oeller had DUI incidents in 2010, 2005, 2000, and 1989. She did not have her driver’s license in possession, according to authorities.

Charges included fifth offense DUI, leaving the scene of a property collision accident, careless driving, failure to report a collision, and failure to have a license in possession.

Ms. Oeller was held in detention after a $5,103 secured bail was not immediately posted. The case was transferred to the Kent County Court of Common Pleas and a preliminary hearing was set for Friday.
