Fire destroys Middletown home

MIDDLETOWN — The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a Sunday morning fire the destroyed a Middletown residence.

The blaze, reported shortly after midnight, occurred in the 700 block of Idlewyld Drive in the Parkside development. The Volunteer Hose Company arrived on the scene and encountered the front of the house engulfed in flames.

State fire investigators are currently searching for the fire’s origin and cause. A family of five has been displaced. There were no reported injuries.

Heavy fire damage was estimated at $500,000. This fire remains under investigation.
