Frankford woman struck and killed trying to cross US 113

FRANKFORD – Delaware State Police report a 56-year-old Frankford woman trying to cross DuPont Boulevard Friday night was struck by a vehicle and killed.

Patsy A. Baine (Woreman) was attempting to cross southbound US 113 north of Berry Lane when she walked into the path of a 2010 Lexus driven by a 22-year-old man from Landenberg, Pennsylvania, state police spokesman Master Cpl. Michael Austin said.

The incident occurred about 9:55 p.m. Sept. 6.

Ms. Baine was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not using a marked crosswalk, was not wearing reflective clothing, and did not have a light, Cpl. Austin said.

Impairment on her behalf was initially undetermined, Cpl. Austin said.

The Lexus driver and a woman passenger were both properly restrained and were not injured. Impairment is not deemed as a contributing factor on his behalf, Cpl. Austin said.

Southbound lanes of DuPont Boulevard were closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

Investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Cpl. J. Burns of the Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit by calling 644-5020.
