Gunfire exchanged during altercation at Dover salon

DOVER — Dover Police are searching for a shooter who injured a man after an exchange of gun fire inside Janaid’s Salon in Dover on Saturday.

M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman said at approximately 3:10 p.m., officers responded to the salon on West Loockerman Street for a shooting and located a 31-year-old male with a single gunshot wound to the shoulder area. It was learned that the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with another man in the salon which escalated into an exchange of gunfire between the two men. There was approximately 20 people in the business at the time. Despite that, no one was able to identify the other male subject involved. The victim was admitted to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries and is in serious but stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at 736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be submitted to law enforcement through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or online at; a cash reward of up to $1,000 is possible for information leading to an arrest.
