Harrington man faces drug, child endangering charges

HARRINGTON A wanted 27-year-old Harrington man was arrested on drug charges following a vehicle check Monday, authorities said.

Christopher E. Hulstine was in a passenger’s seat with an adult female driver and her 4-year-old child when contacted in the 500 block of Shaw Avenue between 3-4 p.m., Harrington Police spokesman Capt. Earl K. Brode said. An officer supposedly saw the occupants acting suspiciously in a driveway, police said.

A vehicle search located hypodermic needles and several empty heroin baggies and other drug paraphernalia, police said.

Mr. Hulstine was taken into custody and processed at the Harrington police station. The female was not charged and released along with the child and the vehicle, police said.

Charges against Mr. Hulstine included endangering the welfare of a child and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a $1,000 unsecured bond following video phone arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach.

Mr. Hulstine was found to have active capiases our of the Kent County Court of Pleas, and received additional $1,000 secured and $600 cash only bonds. He was held at Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown in default of bond.
