Harrington woman, 19, charged in domestic dispute

HARRINGTON — A 19-year-old Harrington woman was charged with endangering the welfare of a child after police responded to a reported domestic dispute at Diamond Court Apartments early Monday afternoon, authorities said.

Tyaisia Smith was arrested after the alleged incident at 1:21 p.m. and found to have an active capias out of the Kent County Court of Common Pleas for failure to appear for a case review, Harrington Police said.

Spokesman Capt. Earl K. Brode said she became involved in an argument with another person in the residence in front of a small child.

Other charges include offensive touching and disorderly conduct.

Ms. Smith was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach on the criminal charges and the capias.

She was issued a $1,500 unsecured bond for the criminal charges but she was given a $1,000 secured bond for the capias and was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of bond, police said.
