Investigation continues in two DSU shootings

DOVER – The Delaware State University Police continues to investigate a Saturday night shooting that took place on campus, as well as a second shooting-related incident that happened a few hours later.

The first shooting happened at 8 p.m. Saturday during Field Day, an annual university-sanctioned student Greek cook-out event. The event was well-attended and included numerous guests from the surrounding area, according to a press released by the university.

The three victims from Saturday night are not connected to the university, according to the press release. All three were transported to Kent General Hospital and are reported to be in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Hours later, university police were called at 1:15 a.m. Sunday to University Courtyard Apartments on State College Road for reports of shots fired. No injuries were reported and it also is being investigated by University police.

Both incidents are under investigation and no arrests had  been made as of 3 p.m. Sunday. DSU campus police is the lead agency investigating the incident. The Dover Police Department, Delaware State Police and other agencies are assisting.

The university says it will resume normal operation and classes will be held Monday.
