Laurel homicide investigation is ongoing

LAUREL — The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit continues to investigate the suspicious death of an adult female victim that has been ruled a homicide.

Investigation began Saturday at approximately 7:24 a.m. when troopers were dispatched to South Shell Bridge Road in the area of Broad Creek Estates for a victim that was found deceased on the side of the roadway, spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

The victim was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science where an autopsy was performed and the cause and manner of death was determined to be a homicide sustained from a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

Police said there have been no reports of any other suspicious activity in that area and the Delaware State Police along with allied agencies have increased their patrols in that area.
