Laurel man, 62, dies in vehicle crash

BRIDGEVILLE — A 62-year-old Laurel man died in a single vehicle crash Wednesday night, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

Authorities said the incident occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m., when a 2018 Dodge Caravan was traveling southbound on Sussex Highway (U.S. 13), north of Newton Road (U.S. 404). For unknown reasons, the operator of the Caravan crossed over the median and both northbound lanes of U.S. 13, before exiting the edge of the roadway, police said. The Caravan continued off the roadway until the front end ultimately struck a standing tree.

The driver, identified as Keith B. Kennedy, was wearing a seat belt and transported to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit.
