Lewes woman killed in multi-vehicle crash in Dewey Beach

DEWEY BEACH – A 23-year-old Lewes woman died Saturday in a multi-vehicle crash on Coastal highway in Dewey Beach, Delaware State Police report.

Delaware State Police on Sunday identified the deceased woman as Logan B. Anderson, the driver of 2013 Nissan Rogue that triggered the chair-reaction crash around noon.

State police investigation determined the Nissan Rogue was northbound on Coastal Highway approaching stopped traffic, but the driver failed to notice traffic stopped and Rogue struck the rear of a Honda CRV operated by 52-year-old Millville woman, state police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz said.

The impacted sent the Honda crashing into the rear of a Ford Escape, driven by a 44-year-old Ocean View woman. The Escape then struck the rear of a Subaru Forester, operated by a 50-year-old Greenbelt, Maryland woman.

Ms. Anderson, who was not properly restrained, was transported by ambulance to Beebe Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The operator of the Forester was not injured. She and two adult passengers all refused medical treatment at the scene.

The operator of the Escape was treated at Beebe Hospital for minor injuries and released.

The Honda driver was transported to Beebe Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Northbound Coastal Highway (SR 1) was closed for approximately three hours during the investigation and clean-up efforts.

The crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
