Erick Morton, presumed innocent unless proven guilty, was 29 at the time of an incident in the Simon Circle Development that brought the death of Jamal Weeks, according to the Dover Police Department when announcing the case last summer.

Mr. Morton was also indicted in Kent County Superior Court on possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by person prohibited, and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

According to Dover PD earlier, Mr. Morton was later arrested without incident as he reported to the Dover Probation and Parole office for a routine check-in appointment. His address was listed at the time as in the unit block of Cypress Branch Road,

Mr. Morton was held at James T. Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna afterward, police said.

Dover police said the alleged incident occurred at approximately 2:17 a.m. in the 900 block of West North Street.
