Man, 71, found dead on boat docked at private marina

MILLSBORO – Authorities do not expect suspect foul play in the death of an elderly man found on his boat at a private marina Saturday afternoon.

Delaware State Police with assistance from the DNREC Division of Fish and Wildlife are conducting a death investigation in the area of Paleo Way, Millsboro, state police spokesman Master Cpl. Michael Austin said.

At approximately 1:37 p.m., Aug. 24, troopers responded to a residence in the 17000 block of Paleo Way in reference to an unresponsive 71-year-old man.

The victim was located on his boat docked at a private marina in the rear of his residence, along the Indian River.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding EMS personnel, Cpl. Austin said.

The Delaware Division of Forensic Science removed the victim for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, Cpl. Austin said.

“No foul play is suspected,” Cpl. Austin said.

Identification of the victim is pending notification of next of kin.
