Man arrested after vehicle strikes acquaintance

BRIDGEVILLE — A 19-year-old Seaford man was arrested after his vehicle struck an acquaintance during an alleged confrontation Wednesday afternoon, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said.

Stephen J. Disilvestri

According to authorities, Stephen J. Disilvestri allegedly drove to a residence on Sunnyside Road, drove into the yard and directly into the path of the acquaintance, who had to jump onto the hood to avoid being hit.

Police said the vehicle came toward the acquaintance a second time, hitting his foot and causing him to flip and land over the vehicle before falling to the ground. Police said that Mr. Disilvestri eventually left the property after a verbal altercation.

Troopers were called to the scene at approximately 2:10 p.m. The acquaintance did not require medical treatment, police said.

Mr. Disilvestri was later taken into custody without incident, police said.

Mr. Disilvestri was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, first-degree reckless endangering, terroristic threatening, second-degree vehicular assault, criminal mischief under $1,000, and third-degree criminal trespass. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released on his own recognizance.
