Man injured in Dover shooting

DOVER — A 41-year-old man was shot in the hip in downtown Dover on Saturday.

The shooting happened at 9:25 p.m. after the victim, said he was shot when a group of subjects began to fight in the area of South New Street and Reed Street, said Cpl. Mark Hoffman of the Dover Police Department. The victim did not provide any further information about the incident, he said.

Officers were notified of the incident when a the victim was dropped off at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital. The injury was non-life threatening, Cpl Hoffman said.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at 736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous.
