Man shot in head in The Hamlet

DOVER — A 21-year-old man was shot in the head Thursday night while jogging from his residence to pay for an earlier bar tab, Dover Police said.

According to authorities, the man was wounded with “bird shot” from a firearm discharged from a vehicle in the unit block of Village Drive in The Hamlet area at approximately 11:30 p.m. The man suffered several pellet wounds to his head and face area and an unknown suspect was hanging out of the passenger window when a single shot was fired. police said.

Police said the wounded man is being treated at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Those shot also struck a residence on Village Drive, only causing minor property damage.
