Milford man facing fourth DUI charge

Joel M. Gleysteen

MILFORD — Joel M. Gleysteen, 23, of Milford, was arrested by Milford police on Wednesday and faces an alleged fourth offense driving under the influence of alcohol charge, police said.

An officer from the Milford Police Department responded to a parking lot in the 600 block of North DuPont Boulevard for a report of an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle Wednesday night at around 10:47.

Police said an investigation revealed Mr. Gleysteen and the victim were involved in an argument, during which Mr. Gleysteen reportedly pushed the victim away from the vehicle and proceeded to drive the vehicle to North DuPont Boulevard and travel north.

A subsequent search for the vehicle located it being driven by Mr. Gleysteen in the area of McCoy Street and Marshall Street. Mr. Gleysteen was taken into custody without incident.

Further investigation, that included field sobriety tests, led to a warrant being obtained for Mr. Gleysteen, who has been charged with fourth offense DUI, unauthorized use of a vehicle, driving while suspended or revoked and offensive touching.

Mr. Gleysteen was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court No. 2, where bail was set at $6,000 secured. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown. He is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas on July 13 for a preliminary hearing.
