Milford park investigation brings weapon charge

Kevin M. Carter

MILFORD — A 26-year-old Harrington man was arrested on a weapon charge last Wednesday after officers responded to Memorial Park to check on several individuals in the park after hours, authorities said.

The investigation led to Kevin M. Carter being contacted at approximately 11:10 p.m., Milford Police said. Mr. Carter initially provided officers with a false name, authorities said. Further investigation learned his identity and the fact he was wanted by both Kent and Sussex County Superior Courts, according to police.

Police said a search also located a knife in Mr. Carter’s possession. The investigation revealed Mr. Carter was prohibited from possessing a weapon due to a prior conviction, police said.

Charges included possession of a deadly weapon by person prohibited and criminal impersonation. Mr. Carter was presented at Justice of the Peace Court 3, where secured bail was set at $3,500. He was then committed to Sussex Correctional Institution.
