Millsboro man charged with weapon, drug offenses

Ricky D. Waters

MILTON — Delaware State Police have charged Ricky D. Waters, 29, of Millsboro with weapons and drug offenses after he was stopped for a traffic violation.

Police spokesman Master Cpl. Michael Austin said the incident occurred at 5:30 a.m. Friday, when a trooper performed a traffic stop on a silver Lincoln Town Car on Coastal Highway (Del. 1) in the area of Milton. Upon making contact with the driver who was identified as Waters, the trooper could smell a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle produced 1.7 grams of marijuana along with drug paraphernalia to include a scale, as well as an unloaded Hy Hunter 6 shot revolver handgun. Further investigation determined that the handgun had been stolen out of Maryland.

Waters was taken into custody without incident and then transported to Troop 7, where he was arrested and charged with one count each of: Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited, Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving with a Suspended License and Failure to Yield the Right of Way.

Waters was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #2 and released on $6850.00 unsecured bail.
