MILLSBORO – Delaware State Police Wednesday identified the 23-year-old Millsboro man who died from injuries sustained in a motorcyclist crash east of Millsboro Monday night.

Jabriell B. Smith died in the crash that occurred about 11:18 p.m. May 27 on Oak Orchard Road south of John J. Williams Highway, state police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz said.

Investigation revealed a 2018 Suzuki motorcycle, operated by the Millsboro man, was northbound on Oak Orchard Road at a high rate of speed, Sgt. Bratz said.

After passing a vehicle on Oak Orchard Road, the driver lost control of the motorcycle, which went off the roadway, struck a sign and then a metal telephone box and a second road sign.

The motorcycle overturned and tumbled along the grassy shoulder. It broke through a vinyl fence and impacted a standing tree before coming to rest on its side along the shoulder of the roadway.

Mr. Smith, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected during the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Oak Orchard Road, in the area of the crash was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
