Murder suspect extradited, charged in June shooting

DOVER -— Dover Police said Friday that Timothy Safford was extradited and charged with first-degree murder in a June 22 shooting at Liberty Court Apartments.

Authorities said Sylvester Lee, 41, of Clayton, died after the incident at 1289 Walker Road. Mr. Safford was taken into custody without incident in Washington, D.C., by the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force.

Mr. Safford, 42 when identified as a person of interest, was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of firearm/ammunition by person prohibited (two counts). He was committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center in default of $1,070,000 cash bond.
