New Jersey man charged in Dover trailer arson

Charles J. Brown

DOVER — A 31-year-old New Jersey man was charged with arson in connection with a Dec. 6 house trailer fire, the Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal said Thursday.

The blaze, reported shortly after 11 a.m., occurred in the unit block of East Pinewood Drive near South State Street, spokesman Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio said. The Dover Fire Department responded to the call and arrived on the scene with an active fire. Heavy fire damage was estimated at $30,000.

State fire investigators were called to the scene and determined the fire was deliberately started inside the house trailer, Mr. Chionchio said.

Charles J. Brown, age 31, of Egg Harbor Township, was arrested without incident Thursday.

Charges included second-degree arson, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, aggravated menacing and breach of release. Mr. Brown was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington in lieu of $76,000 secured bond.
