Update: Victim in fatal crash identified

MILLSBORO — Delaware State Police Friday released the name of the 24-year-old Millsboro who was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Thursday morning.

Anthony M. Wilkinson died in the crash that occurred shortly after 1 a.m., May 9, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

Investigation revealed a 2004 Jeep Cherokee was northbound on Handy Road south of Dickerson Road. Due to unsafe speed, the driver failed to maintain the travel lane and drove off the west edge of the roadway, striking a large standing tree, police said.

Mr. Wilkinson, the sole occupant, was not wearing a seat belt, Cpl. Jaffe said. He was transported to the Beebe Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation by the DSP Collision Reconstruction Unit.
