Pennsylvania man succumbs to injuries in motorcycle-deer collision

FRANKFORD – A 52-year-old Pennsylvania man seriously injured July 15 when his motorcycle struck a deer succumbed two days after that crash, Delaware State Police report.

Michael Dunlap from Temple, Pennsylvania died from the injuries at Christiana Hospital on July 17, state police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

State police investigation revealed the incident occurred July 15 at about 11 p.m. on Roxana Road (SR 17) near the intersection of Bennett Road (CR 371) when an adult female deer entered the roadway in front of the 1997 Harley-Davidson motorcycle Mr. Dunlap was operating.

The motorcycle struck the deer, and the cycle overturned.

Mr. Dunlap, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to the Christiana Hospital with serious injuries.

The incident remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
