Rehoboth fire damage could top $1 million

REHOBOTH BEACH — A Friday morning building fire might have caused more than $1,000,000 in damage, officials said.

Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael G. Chionchio said the blaze, reported around 1 a.m., occurred in the 35000 block of Haven Drive in the Beach Haven Condominiums near Coastal Highway. The Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company responded.

State Fire investigators went to the scene to search for the cause of this fire. The 18 unit building was been evacuated and closed to any tenants due to structure damage. It is not known how many people were in the building prior to the discovery of the fire.

There were no reported injuries.

Dover shoe store burglarized
DOVER — The Red Wing Shoes store was burglarized Thursday night at approximately 10:29 p.m., a Dover Police spokesman said.

Police said a burglar broke a front glass door to enter the business at 260-A S. DuPont Highway. The burglar took cash from the register before fleeing.

Police ask anyone with information to call 736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be submitted to law enforcement through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333.
