Rehoboth man injured in crash dies

MILLSBORO – The driver of one of three vehicles involved in a crash Thursday afternoon on Indian Mission Road near Millsboro has died from his injuries, Delaware State Police report.

Gene E. Crone, 79, of Rehoboth Beach died Friday at Christiana Hospital, state police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

Mr. Crone was the operator of an Explorer that was struck when a Subaru driven by a 66-year-old Millsboro man veered across the center line into the Explorer’s path, Cpl. Jaffe said.

An Audi Q5 traveling behind the Explorer struck the Explorer.

The crash occurred about 12:44 p.m. Aug. 15.

State police investigation revealed Mr. Crone was not properly restrained.

The driver of the Subaru was taken to Beebe Medical Center, treated for minor injuries and released.

The Audi driver, a 58-year-old woman from Millsboro, declined medical treatment at the scene.

Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation.
