Residential burglary brings Hartly arrest

HARTLY — A 21-year-old Hartly man was arrested after an alleged residential burglary in the 5700 block of Halltown Road, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:32 p.m. when troopers were dispatched to the residence for a reported burglary, authorities said. Upon arrival, troopers met with the homeowner who advised that when he returned home he found that a plastic container containing coins and a scooter were missing from his residence, police said.

It was learned that several witnesses had seen the suspect exit the residence carrying a plastic container and fleeing the area on a scooter, according to authorities.

Troopers investigated and identified Cameron T. Carper as a person of interest. He was located at his residence in the 5100 block of Halltown Road. Troopers recovered the scooter and plastic container of coins that were taken from residence, police said.

Mr. Carper was taken into custody without incident. Charges included second-degree burglary and theft under $1,500. Mr. Carper was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $5,500 unsecured bond.
